Well, we left the house today intending to adopt a dog at the Spokane Humane Society. We looked at many dogs and decided on a really meek and quiet pit-bull mix. Her name was “Echo” and she was a loving dog. We, in exchange for my license and keys, took her out for a walk. A few times around the building and she finally got over the excitement of being out of her kennel. We quickly found out Echo knew a few comments such as “Sit”, Laydown” and “Shake”. This was the dog for us. No doubt about it. She had a history of being around kids and cats. Our cat at home would surely have appreciated this. So we decide to adopt Echo, this is the dog for us. A bond had been made rather quickly.
We get to the desk and fill out the paperwork. The nice lady behind the counter asked us if we were allowed to own a pitbull in our apartment complex. Good question. I decide I better call the landlord. Twice in the time I’ve been living here it has been confirmed that with the proper pet deposit cats AND dogs were allowed. So, here I am calling the landlord. I ask if Pitbulls are acceptable and she informs me that they have changed their policy entirely and dogs are no longer allowed in the complex. Argh!! Holy crap. So we left the Spokane Humane Society with no dog.
I’m bummed, I didn’t quite see this coming and really had no way to prepare for it. But enough of me, my wife Anna was so very disappointed. She fought back the tears as we left the building. So, that was that. No dog for now. What now? Well, we have decided that we definitely need to get into our own house.
Well, that’s it for now. We have a fattening feast of food to accompany us while we distract the events of today with a nice long playing of King Kong the movie. Sorry, no pictures of our dog to show today, maybe another day soon.
