This is what happens when my wife, who by the way is very handy with Photoshop, is annoyed with me.

Thanksgiving at my house

Posted by liquilife on 11/23 at 03:52 PM

Well, here I am. Just now finally able to take a rest on thanksgiving day and it’s 4pm. My wife and I have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off since 8am this morning starting with the ceremonial stuffing and preparation of the turkey. Our turkey was a heft 17lbs, probably a bit overkill for 4 adults and one child. No big deal, if there is one thing I love and that is left over cold turkey sandwiches. Give me two slabs of wonder bread, cold turkey, mayo, mustard and a slice of cheddar cheese and that could be breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Anyways, my sister and her fiance came over today with my most awesome nephew, Trent. Andy (the fiance) hung out and played Gears of War and watched a little football. My sister was thankfully able to take my spot in the kitchen to keep my wife entertained while cooking a plethora of food. Trent, my 3 year old nephew, quickly found his way to the computer hanging out in our living room. I got him set up watching Futurama and Family Guy with the headset and he was quite content for a while.

Dinner finally came and we began the stuffing of our faces thanksgiving routine. Turkey, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, macaroni salad, leaf salad, fruit salad, rolls, cranberries, apple juice and the best item - stuffing. Some of us went through 3 plates, some of us went through 2 plates but suffice me to say that we were all moaning and groaning about our stomachs being crammed with too much food. My wife and I picked up the kitchen, put everything away, packed some food for my sister and did some cleaning in the kitchen. Apparently this was enough work to burn off some of the food because I was good and ready for some pie. Mmm, peach pie and pumpkin pie was on the dessert menu.

Well, here I am now with the day behind me and once again our little place of living has returned to normal. The cat is out and about again now that the strange “Humans” have left. My wife is taking a well needed and deserved rest on the couch watching the Colbert Report on the DVR recorded from last night. All is good. I’m tired, but it’s a good kind of tired knowing that we managed to capture the moment of Thanksgiving. No regrets here.

That is all for now. Please feel free to check out two new galleries I setup today.

Changes over at UncleGamer.com

Posted by liquilife on 12/03 at 01:31 PM

Last night Anna took the time to redraw our UncleGamer logo/header. The first one we had was quickly outlived and even very simple. I present to you the new header for UncleGamer.com:

I now feel that UncleGamer has a bit of Pizazz that was never present before. The image is, however, a bit top heavy weighing in at 30kb.

Vicous696, my radio show partner, was complaining that he looks to “big” in the picture. So I thought I would propose this modified header and see what he thinks:

I’ll let you know how it goes.

Go pixel board go!

Posted by liquilife on 12/04 at 05:49 AM

The night before last I implemented the Pixel Board on liquilife.com which allowed anyone to pimp out their site for free on my site. Usually I am accustomed to 20 unique hits per day on my blog but it seems the pixel board drew in some attention. With the first full day of running the pixel board I had 170 unique hits. I know, this is nothing big, and compared with a lot of my other sites 170 unique hits would be rather abysmal but this is liquilife.com we are talking about here. A site built only to amuse myself and no one else. You could also say I really spammed the pixel board to try and get a lot of spots used up on it, which is true. This is no different though then any other time I’ve spammed liquilife.com for any other featured project which has never garnished this many hits.

If you haven’t had the chance to add yourself to the pixel board please go and pixelate yourself now. Just move them eyeballs to the right and you can’t miss it! Let’s get this board filled up and make it look like I have a lot of friends.

Saddam Hussein execution and the media

Posted by liquilife on 12/30 at 07:54 AM

Well, we have all heard that Saddam Hussein was executed yesterday but how did all of the major news sites cover this? An interesting look at the media front page coverage of this crazy world event. I have collected 29 screen shots of various news sites moments after the execution. It is very interesting to see just how each site reacted and what they reported.

The Earth is Flat? Who would have guessed!

Posted by liquilife on 02/17 at 09:19 AM

The internet often allows the small people to get their voice heard or gather together for some pretty odd reasons. This would be the case with the “The Flat Earth Society”. The Flat Earth Society (from here on known as FES) is a group of people who believe what the name of their organization implies: The Earth is flat and NOT round. They believe that a giant ice wall surrounds us in a big disc preventing us from ever figuring out the truth. I know, you must think I’m on drugs at this point, but you’ll just have to go see for yourselves.

I’m not going to disprove this by talking about Amelia Earhart and her flight around the world, Space Shuttle images of the round earth or any HUGE number of evidence from the centuries of discoveries. Instead I want to bring to attention the explanation of FES just explaining how the earth is flat. Warning: This is very comical.

Trip to Downtown Manhattan

Posted by liquilife on 05/29 at 02:59 AM

Ok, first of all I want to apologize to everyone for the tardiness of our picture updates! I made a trip to Downtown Manhattan about two weeks ago and took some pictures. I walked from Penn Station, not realizing it was almost a 2 hour walk to downtown Manhattan. I stopped at a McDonalds near the New York Stock Exchange and was very surprised that my #3 meal was priced at $8! I went hungry. Screw that!

Anywho, I created a Gallery titled Manhattan II which contains about 15 images.

One reason I love New York

Posted by liquilife on 04/18 at 06:57 AM

Let me preface this posting with a note. I generally find the NY subway performers to be generally annoying. I know, sounds horrible. It is true. With that being said…

I was heading to the N train the other day, walking through the underbelly of Times Square and stumbled across this performer. He would stand perfectly still until someone would put money in his bronze bucket. At that moment he would make movements similair to a robot, complete with realistic sound effects. People were lined up to give him money just to see what he would do next.

What a genius!
